So, You Wanna Buy A House?
First Things First: If you weren't one of the lucky Powerball winners this year (and if you were, please call me!), you're going to need a mortgage. Talk to 2-3 Lenders. Ask about Interest Rates. Ask about Fees associated with Closing the loan. Then, pick a Lender you seem to click with and get Pre-Approved. They will tell you how much you're approved to spend on a home and what your monthly payments will be. There's nothing worse than falling in love with a house AND THEN finding out you can't afford it. Trust me! Your Lender will also tell you how much you'll need to buy a home- Down Payment, Inspections, Appraisals, Surveys, and Closing Costs. I work with some great Lenders so if you need a referral, let me know.
Who's Got Your Back? Start working with a local Real Estate professional ASAP. Visiting Open Houses on the weekends and calling listing agents to get information about a home is ok, but when it comes down to the home buying process, you want someone to represent YOU. As a Buyer's Agent, I work to understand your wants and needs, and to help find homes that fit your criteria, budget, timeline, and home buying goals. I provide you with stats so you can see what similar homes in the area are selling for and help you get the best terms for the home you want. I am with you every step of the way- contract to close!
Where's My Wallet? People are usually afraid to ask, but everyone wants to know the answer to the question- "How much is THAT going to cost me?" In our market, the Seller almost always pays the commission of the Buyer's Agent. (There are some exceptions so let's talk about that) So, why would you pass up the benefit of someone representing you and solely looking out for your best interests, when it may not cost you a dime?
Now What?: Call me. I'd love to meet you and treat you to a cup of coffee. Jot down any questions you might have and let's talk about finding your new home!
